I took Trooper to the after hours clininc last night. He had gotten sick on Sunday and started having diarhea on Monday. He is acting fine. No loss in appetite. Last night i took him out and noticed blood in his stool. The Vet did tests and didn't find anything. He thinks the intestine could be inflamed from being sick or stress which is causing the blood. He prescribed antibiotics that has an anti inflammatory in it. If i don't see improvement by tomorrow i'm taking him back. Has anyone else encountered anything like this?

My Maggie-Mae had bloody stool about a few years ago. It was during one of the few snows that Charlotte NC gets and the red on the white snow freaked me out. The vet didn't find anything wrong with her and basically said the same thing, inflammed intestine. She put her on something that coats the stomach and intestines so that she has time to heal without irritation. It was called Sucralfate and also Sufasalazine.

keep us posted on Trooper and how he is doing. Good wishes being sent your way.

Trooper seems to be fine now. Maybe those vet's know something after all!. Just kidding. I may have jumped the gun on ruching him to the vet but when i saw that blood i couldn't get him there quick enough. He still has about 6 or 7 days of antibiotics to go but all seems well. While i was sitting in the waiting room waiting for him I realized just how attached to him i've gotten. I've only had him 3 weeks but don't know what i'd do without him. I think Pandy feels the same way. She just doesn't know it yet! Anyway thanks for all of the encouragement.

Deniro sometimes gets a little bout of colitis from too many storms. He is severly Thunderphobic. His is induced by stress.

I always keep flagyl and endosorb on hand.

Glad to hear that Trooper is getting better.
