Please help me in remembering Jupiter who left us on Saturday to join Shelby after a lengthy battle with spinal disease. While his mind and heart were still strong the body was too weak. Jupey would have been 12 next month and while he wasn't the prettiest, what he lacked in appearance and personality he made up for with loyalty. He leaves behind his dad Jerry who had to work hard for the first six months Jupiter lived with us to gain his trust but boy once he did, he never left his side. Also survived by Nikki the 3 year old greyhound who was his shadow. Jupey stayed strong for long enough to teach Nikki the ropes so she could survive without him. He will also be missed by Abby and Caesar the small fuzzy butts who shared our home. Most of all Jupiter will be missed by me as I remember the good and bad times during his five years with us. Jupiter was an older big black dog back in 2001 when he was returned after September 11th. Knowing his chances of getting adopted would be slim I said what the heck, we'll foster him. Well you all know what that means don't you Very Happy He was a world traveler who loved nothing better than to lay on the grass and watch the world go by. I'm sure he's doing that right now.

I always have trouble replying to these posts because it's very hard to type through tears. I am so sorry for Your loss. You have a bunch of great memories of Him and one day another jupiter will come along and steal Your heart away.

Laurie,
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Jupiter. Here's our wish that your memories of him will surround you and comfort you now, and, in the future, lead you to help another older greyhound like him who needs the love and care you so happily share with your dogs.

He sounds perfectly beautiful inside and out. I can feel the love in your words. I know he knew he was loved and have no doubt he returned it many times over.

Run free, Jupiter, and then have a nice rest in the cool grass.

Laurie I am so sorry to hear about Jupiter. I will always picture him looking up at you Jerry as you said your vows. You could see the love in his eyes. Bless you for adopting him and loving him. Give Jerry a hug from all of us. And give Nikki a hug and tell her that Jupiter will always be there to guide her when she needs him. My thoughts are with you guys.

for all your kind words. For those of you not at the first Mountain Hounds in 2005, Lynda was referring to the fact Jerry and I got married there and Shelby was my maid of honor and Jupiter was Jerry's best man. It;s hard to believe that is less than two years, they are both gone. Luckily we have lots of great pictures of happier days to get us through. The emotional price of loving senior hounds is high but I wouldn't have it any other way. In honor of Jupiter, our foster coordinator is searching to find us another big black senior boy hound. I'm sure it won't long. We know he will never replace Jupiter but it gives me comfort to know his legacy will live on.
