Tessie would not eat her breakfast nor her supper today. I am worried about her b/c in 8 plus years this dog has NEVER not eaten. Most of the time she wants to eat everything and begs for more. She doesn't show any symptoms other than not eating. Because she has LP, I hate to take her to the vet as that gets her going. She hates the vet. If she turns her nose up at her breakfast I am taking her to the vet in the morning. I cooked her ground turkey for dinner and she would not even take a bite of it. I am afraid something is really wrong. I just have this bad feeling.

Poor Tessie! Let's hope she just has a belly full of spring grass! Let us know how she's doing.

Tessie is feeling better. She ate her breakfast, then she had some lunch. She did throw up last night so I guess whatever it was is gone. I got very worried b/c in 8 plus years I have never seen her not ready to eat. lol.

Glad Tessie's doing better! Tiger is actually named that because of the way she goes after food. To call her "food motivated" is an understatement. Every once in a while, for no apparent reason, she'll turn her nose up at a couple of meals. The next, though, she's back to her normal greedy self. Without symptoms, unless it lasted more than 1 day, I wouldn't worry too much. It must be a "senior" thing... Rolling Eyes (said tongue-in-cheek. I know that it's not something all seniors do.)

My Nubie was diagnosed with LP about 6 weeks ago. We elevated his food bowl to chest height, and I puree his food plus, we feed him 4 times a day. It has made a tremendous difference in his couphing/gagging. His breathing still sounds a little rattled, but NOTHING compared to when we first took him in. He is on pepcid in the morning, and 1/2 hour before he eats in the evening I give him metaclopromide( I think that's it) to help the food pass through his stomach more quickly. He will go through not eating every once in a while, and I FREAK out about it. He's also on Metacam once a day. He really is a different dog now that I've made all of these changes. He's 11 1/2, and we have no plans to do a tie-back. Have you looked into this for Tessie?

I have not thought about it being connected to her LP. I will have to take a look at that. I do wet her food. Thanks for the info.
