Hello,

My 5 year old greyhound Justice is sick. On 06/13/07 he was moving kind of slow when we came home from work. On 06/14/07 he was still a little lethargic but was also anorexic. He was also walking like his joints hurt or something. On 06/15/07 he was having anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea and a fever of 104. The Vet. put him on Doxycycline. His platelets were low. She suspected Rocky Mountain spotted fever. I did find a small tick on him about 5 days prior to this. His fever was 103-104 all weekend
and he did not seem to be better. We took him back to the Vet. on Monday 06/18/07 and she did some abdominal and Chest xrays. She thought she saw a mass. On Tuesday 06/19/07 we took him to a specialist and got an ultrasound of his belly. This Vet. thought his ultrasound and physical exam was not significant for any abnormalities. Thought what the other Vet. saw was gas and thought his ultrasound and physical exam was not significant for any abnormalities. He did mention he had a large heart and some possible pneumonia from looking at his xrays. Platelets went even lower from 140,000 to 114,000. Doxycycline was stopped.
Cipro. and Cephalexin were started. He also suggested we send serology studies for Babesia. His temp has come down to 102. He is eating a little, still has some diarrhea (mucus like and light green in color) and had a small amount of bright red blood in his emesis today. If he does not get any better by tomorrow 06/21/07 we will take him back to the Vet. Heartworm and Erhlichia tests were negative.

You have my permission to forward this info. Do you have any input? Any suggestions? Any ideas? I am at a loss as what to do next. My other greyhound Breeze is not sick in anyway. I got Justice through GPA Tampa Bay about 3 years ago in Tampa, FL.
He came from Abernathy kennels and his racing name was Husker Justice. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank you Alicia for your email.

Thank you so much.
