I have started a new post with the new date for Kathy's visit.
Kathy Hobson from Houndstooth is planning a trip to Charlotte for Dentals, May 16th, 17th & 18th. Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | is her website and has lots of info. Several people in the group used Kathy the last time she came through Charlotte and were quite pleased. I have Sugar scheduled for the May visit. If you want to schedule your dog (greyhound or non-greyhound) give Kathy a call.
Kathy requires a $50 deposit per dog. Without a deposit many people who book an appointment may not show up. Kathy flies in from CA, so she needs to be sure she has an adequate number of clients to cover her expenses. If you want to have your dogs teeth cleaned call Kathy to get your name on the list. She will take your info and ask you to mail her a deposit for the cleaning. If for some reason we don't get enough dogs scheduled she will refund your deposit.
Please share info about Kathy with all your doggie friends who might be interested in a non-anesthetic dental cleaning. Kathy will refund deposits for appointments if they are cancelled in advance but not for no-shows. Sounds fair to me.
To make an appointment for May 16th, 17th or 18th call Kathy at 310-835-1919. Her mailing address for the deposit is:
Houndstooth
1547 North Benning Blvd.

Hey! This is a reminder to sign up for non-anesthetic dental cleanings in Charlotte on May 16 and 17 with Houndstooth. See the web site at Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | and call 310-835-1919 for an appointment. Three of my greys did it last year with great results. It is a wonderful alternative to dental cleaning under anesthesia. My dogs were relaxed for the procedure and never made a sound. I was in the room and watched them. The procedure was stress-free and easy on the dogs. And it did a great job of cleaning their teeth.
Many vets recommend an antibiotic before a dental cleaning. Bacteria may be released into the body from nasty teeth and gingivitis. It is a good idea to use an antibiotic before any dental procedure. Talk to your vet about this. My vet is happy to give us antibiotics before we do non-anesthetic dental cleanings.
Best Wishes,
Karen Ferguson |

My vet uses Amoxicillin 500 mg. 2 capsules every 12 hours. Start 2 days before planned dental work and continue for a total of 10 days.

Houndstooth is here through Monday for non-anesthetic dentals at Pawtique in Ballentyne. 12206 Copper Way, Charlotte NC. Kathy has a few empty slots and can fit you in if you want to take advantage of this. Her phone number is 310-835-1919.
I took my Dolly and Smokey Reynard (a visitor) to have their teeth done today. It went great and both have bright, white choppers this evening. My Belle and Sam have their dentals on Monday. There were several other greys getting dentals today. Hopefully their owners will post about their positive experience with Houndstooth. I can't say enough about the benefits of non-anesthetic dental cleanings.
Best Wishes!

The Diva Dingo had her teeth cleaned by Kathy this afternoon. Kathy was wonderful with her. Dingo will be a young 13 years old in a few weeks so I was very concerned about how the cleaning would take place. It took Kathy less than 30 minutes and she was go good with Dingo. Dingo's teeth look clean and completely tartar free! She held Dingo in her lap as she scraped her teeth, giving her a few short breaks and before we knew it the proceedure was over. I highly reccommend Kathy and her price for the cleaning is much cheaper and safer than at the vet's office. We will continue taking advantage of this service when Kathy is in our area.
It was nice meeting Karen F and Copper's Mom this afternoon. It was nice to see Lynda M and sweet Sugar too. Sugar, by the way, must be Dingo's twin sister even though Sugar is a few years younger! |

Sugar had her dental and her teeth are so bright you gotta wear
shades. She didn't care for the laying down part but once she was down she did fine.
Kathy does very well with the dogs. She said they know by the way she holds them that they are safe. Hmmm, I should of had her clean Sugars ears while she had her still.
Sugar was happy to see Dingo. I really think that is what she was telling Rev Susan. That she likes things her color or like her. She must have meant Dingo. They are so cute together. _________________
