I recently switched from Nutro to Candinae All Life stages by the recommendatin of several other greyhound owners- we were having issues with runny poo and this new food has eliminated it. However, now we have a TERRIBLE gas problem. I couldn't even sleep last night it kept me up- and it lingers. Our whole house smells like sulfer- is this an adjustment time or should I give up and try a new food? She has been on it 4 days now. Someone suggested yogurt- any other thoughts besides buying a gas mask???

Yogurt at each feeding is fine, if need be You can give her beano or gas-x
but I'd wait a week or two and give her system a chance to adjust to the new food. BTW I feed My three Canidae and it's great.

i give yogurt too and odie has some really bad gas. if i notice the gas, i give him some yogurt (a few teaspoons full) in a bowl and it seems to settle his stomach pretty quick.

The good news is....he will get over it. Flame had gas for months while he was adjusting. I would keep air freshener on the bedside table and reach over in the middle of the night to spray as the smell would wake me up. Shocked I give a spoon of yogart with each feeding. Not much gas around here. Thank goodness.

I've had good results with a product called Prozyme. It's a concentrated, powdered digestive enzyme supplement you sprinkle on their food. You use 1/4 tsp. per cup of food so a little goes a long way.

Another common cause of gas is intestinal parasites. I had ongoing issues with a mushy stool and terrible gas with Princess for the first few months. Her first fecal was negative, but when I had her checked again it was positive for hooks and whips. Gas and loose stool cleared up after 3 days of treatment.

Cynthia, you are right. Often they will test negitive but will have them. That was the case with Beecher.
