Hello All,
Just wanted to say Hello. My husband Leon and I adopted Jimbo's Fuzzy from GFNC on Sunday Jan 6th. She is a wonderful girl. We now call her Carolina. She has settled in quite well. We are still learning the stairs, but everything else is going very well. We can't be happier.
Thanks to Blanche for showing us all the adoptables.

Oh, congratulations and bless your heart for changing her name!!!!! Caroline is so elegant and regal and appropriate for such a lovely girl. I wished I could adopt her myself just to change it! I always feel so sorry for the hounds with ridiculous names! You would hardly believe the changes in behavior when we changed Fruity's name to Rose, race name Real Fruit Rose. (Note to self: House is full. Limit is four. House is full....)
Welcome, welcome to you and the lovely Caroline. If you have any questions there's always someone her to help. And we'd love to hear all about the fun as Caroline settles into retirement.

Can You imagine changing Oswald Cobblepots name to, lets say "Duke" ? He was a three time national champion who sired nearly 5300 offspring, imagine the greatness He could have attained if they had just changed his name !!! LOL Some names are pretty awful though and really do need changing.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Carolina woke up this morning like a new dog. She went up and down the stairs like it was no big deal, she was running up and down the hallway and play bowing as we were getting dressed this morning. She and I went for our early am walk as Leon left for work. It was cold! When we got home Carolina snuggled up on the couch with me and a blanket. When it was time for me to head off to work, she didn't even move. This is a big change. She has always headed for the door with me.
It's wonderful to see her relaxing and better understanding the routine. I hope we can take some new pictures this weekend.
Oh, a question....we took her to a fenced in football field on Sunday for a run. When we got back in the truck, she had cut heself on a rear leg, inside. Like a front toe nail had connected wiht the opposite rear leg while running. Is this common? It was a small wound and we treated it. She seemed oblivious that it was even there. It seems to be healing just fine. Is this what the blue stuff on the legs when lure coursing is supposed to prevent?
Thanks,
Ang, Leon & Carolina girl |

Yep...thats very common. Because their legs cross each other during their gait, the nail can scratch the inner thigh. Nothing to worry about if its just a scratch. I just clean it and let it heal. |

Yes it is very common. Paige has a lot of nicks on the inside of both hind legs which is probably more My fault than hers, I need to keep her nails trimmed more often. Bad Gary, bad, bad Gary !!!

Hi,
I'm Leon and Carolina's new Dad. She is doing wonderfully and such a joy. We call her the velcro dog as she clings to us most everywhere we go. I have owned many dogs over my lifetime but never one so unassuming. She just wants to be loved and petted and fed. You tell people you have a greyhound, a retired racer and the first thing they say is I bet she is so active and hard to handle, but as all you owners know it is just the opposite. Angie and I lost a 14 year old Lab that Angie had since a puppy and we debated on getting another dog so soon after losing our Yankee girl but it was the best thing we ever did.

I'm so glad you found each other.
They do a wonderful job of healing your heart,
that is the only way I have been able to cope
when I lost one.
It makes you feel so good to see them settle in more and more each month. Expect to see changes for the next year or more.
I love their "velcroness". Mine follow me all over the house
except for the ones I have had for a while. They are secure enough and lazy enough to stay on a comfy bed and wait for me to come back to that room.
