Earlier one of my girls were sleeping then let out a yipe and came over to me with her leg stiff and she was limping. She was crying so i started to freak out and ran to call my husband and by the time i got off the phone she was walking around as if nothing happened What on earth do you think it was. Called the hubby back because he told me to take her to the hospital. We thought maybe it was just a cramp. Need to know whether i should take her to the drs or not. She does have an appt. Mon. for a checkup. She seems fine now even went out in the yard with her sister and ran around like crazy. Just not sure what to do? never a bad idea to follow instinct, and it never hurts to have them checked. i do know that when my digger was still with me, in the colder months like now if he would stay in one place long sleeping he would seem to get muscle cramps and wake up with that scream of death that they are famous for. limp around for a minute then back to normal. sounds like the exact same thing you describe. never did know why. _________________ Karl,

mine do that every now and then. What I have figured out is that its usually the leg they were laying on for a while and its most likely just falling asleep. They get that tingly feeling. I hate that feeling and it must scare them more than hurt. I wish we could tell them that its ok like you can do with a child. But when I rub the leg thats affected they look at me like I am a wizzard or something because it stops. So I am guessing thats all it is. If it happens a lot though, like 2 or 3 time a week, talk to your vet. _________________ Debbie, mom to Reggie, Tim Tam, Chloe Isabeau, Ballou, Jessie James and Jossie. My Tim Tam is a drama KING. He will scream if I even look like I am reaching for his foot. He hates to have his nails done. _________________ Debbie, mom to Reggie, Tim Tam, Chloe Isabeau, Ballou, Jessie James and Jossie. (2 legged kids Cody and Kelly) Hubby Ron aka Captain Morgan |

I know the "gh scream of death". HA! They will scream over the smallest thing. Mine act like they are being tortured to death if I trim their nails or a dog steps on them. On the other hand, they are stoic when they are in real pain. Belle ripped her toe off (literally) and never made a sound. I didn't know anything was wrong until I saw the HUGE pool of blood.
Best Wishes! Karen |
