Jean
I'll check with our treasurer and let you know-she's the one keeping the spread sheet on it.

Wow-Sandy said we got one more-that makes 82.

Just don't know why people don't want them.

Oh, it would be a shame if we lost the oportunity to have these plates on our cars! I sent in for 3, but the numbers do not look good...
I am hoping we get to the quota. Pray

Thalia
Unfortunately, we haven't received any more applications. Unless something happens, and I don't know what we can do, it will probably just be dropped and the money returned.
We really thought we could get at least 300, but looks like there isn't enough interest in it. I think it's been almost 2 years and we are still at 80 something.

Has there been any discussion about promoting these license plates at M&Gs and other "public" events? Having a liicense plate that supports greyhound adoption might be seen as a painless, easy way to support the cause. Just a thought...

I think having to put the money up front is the main reason many people haven't signed up, I know it's the reason I haven't. Putting out money for something that's not a sure thing is difficult for some folks. If the plates were available I would already have two of them. JMHO.

It's like an investment- you pay the money up front, and either you get a plate some time, or you get the money back and it fels like "new" money! You know, just like when you hide dog toys in the closet for a few months, and when you take them back out they all think they got new toys!! Wink Very Happy

Here's the problem. First everyone wanted to see what they would look like before they sent any money in. Then they wanted to see how many we got before they sent theirs in. With everyone waiting for all of this, we aren't getting any more. It's only $20-most of us throw away more than that every week, at least I know I do.
Where are the other 220 people coming from to put $20 up front for their plates to count before the rest of the people that will buy one when they see it is a reality.
We have advertised at Open Houses, Meet and Greets, WatchMyHound and our local Yahoo groups. We put applications in all our adoption packets. Don't know what more we can do. You will get the money back if it doesn't go through-what we have so far is in a special fund-we aren't using it-it has to go to the state to get those plates if and when we get those 300 applications. They aren't our rules-it's the state of NC rules.

Blanche

I did not see the application in the Welcome waggin bag that I have to give to my person. Is it posible to email or fax it to me to get it to him. The reason I have not gotten one is I alreadly have a personalized plate and it is too long to put on the GH plate. Otherwise I would have gotten one.

Amy
I know a lot of people have personalized plates and being able to put only 4 letters on it isn't what they want. But I guess we can't have everything.
I think I still have the application on my computer that I can send you a copy and if not I can copy it from the website and send to you.
Does all the past information that has been put out make everyone feel that it is just us wanting to get the 300 up front? The state DMV will not start making them until we that many. After the initial output, they won't demand it any more.

I have the picture and the application in my M&G book and at Open House we had a table devoted to the plate and the kennel gave out info at Open House. New adopters get the info in their packet when they adopt. We have put it on Greytalk and on this forum. Desta and I discussed when we went to the kennel to get Sugar us doing a mailing to all the NC adoptors as another chance to alert them.

But, your right Blanche, you can only do so much and people will either bite or not. I know we have more than 300 greyhound adopters in NC. If this falls through for GFNC then it will be a loss of income that is needed.

the only reason i havent sent in for mine is i have to run weighted tags on my truck, and i havent been able to find out for sure i can get one for that type of plate. theres so many aggrivating things (at least to me anyway) about a weighted tag anyway, just getting the dmv to give a straight answer on what weight to put on for towing my car trailer was a chore. otherwise i would love to have one on there.

I don't know if you can get special plates for trucks-I know they are different.
