Hi All-
Rowdy has been throwing up a little here and there since Saturday morning. He's been acting fine and we had a well check at the vet Saturday and he didn't find anything wrong so I was chalking it up to just a bug or something that didn't agree with him... it hasn't been excessive and he's been behaving normally otherwise...
If you have a weak stomach stop reading now-
Anyway- this evening he got sick again only this time when he threw up his food (undigested from this morning) there were other items... 3 pair of panties and 4 socks to be precise.
After talking with the vet this evening it appears that he's been throwing up because his stomach was already full with this stuff. Thank God he was able to get the items back up w/o choking or his instestines being blocked. He is very lucky.
If you are missing socks it may not be your dryer that's eating them! |

Told you he would live up to his name someday... He's just being subtle about it. Glad it all turned out (or is that came out) well. _________________ Elizabeth

I had a mutt one time named Sadie Sue that would steal my dirty underwear out of the laundry basket and chew the crotches out of them! She also would shred my socks.
Fortunately, all my Greys past and present don't do that! _________________ Tara Sue was here

Rowdy remember that you are a Greyhound and NOT a laundry basket!
I'm glad he's alright. _________________ Lori Parsons, wife to Michael, mother to Cassie and Peter and fur kids Bill, Sheana, Monty, Tasha, Ginny and Huey. With Bridge kids Dee, Sam, Max and Miss Ellie. |

Greyhounds are funny like that...they will let out the GSOD (Greyhound Scream o'Death) if they stub a toe, but a major thing like a big gash, or GI problems and they will try to hide it. I think it has to do with being part of a pack. Instinctually dogs that are "weaker" or have something wrong are usually forced out of the pack, so instinctually the dog tries to hide ailments like that. Just a theory though.
You'll learn the more you are around your dog, the more you will get to know every bump and muscle, as well as every personality quirk, so this subtle kind of thing will be easier to spot next time.
Glad he's ok. |

Glad he is ok. I can't tell you how many times. Maddie has stolen something (Saturday it was a block of Parmesan cheese from the counter - I know I know-do not leave things where Maddie can get them) she has eaten things out of the waste basket - important paperwork off the table, her poop from the backyard (mommy is more diligent in picking that up now) - she has chewed the hotel door at BBH, crates when I first got her, as well as door knobs. I close off my closet and bathroom doors and baby gate other rooms that I do not want the royal nose, or stealer going into.
MYyfoster Cal liked to chew onmy flip flops, on slobber on my suede boots (luckily I caught him before he did any damage) and would run through the house with a sock or two-if I left open the closet door. But he has moved to his forever home now and his new Mommy and Daddy were advised of his antics.
It is unbelievable what they will get into. _________________ Amy

Parmesan cheese yummy. Mem eats my shoes. She has chewed up about 6 pair. I have been watching her poop for a week now looking for part of my grandson's toy. _________________ Linda

Hey! Last month I sat for a grey that had lost an incredible amount of weight over SEVERAL weeks. Two trips to the vet didn't reveal any problem, and the dog didn't act ill. The day after he arrived here he threw up two intact athletic socks. Both were rolled up in the shape of a dog stomach and quite nasty. Apparently he had been vomiting for a long time but the owner didn't know because his other dogs were "recycling" the food. After the socks came out the dog regained his weight quickly and is fine. WHEW!
On a lighter note....Years ago I sat for a grey (can't remember which, but it was one of yours) that shredded a blue plastic dog toy with little raised snowman faces all over it. I found remnants of the ball itself but the snowmen faces were gone. They started appearing the next day in the dog's poop. I had to warn the owner to expect to see smiling snowmen faces for a few days. And yes, the snowmen were still smiling on their way out. LOL!
