After a 4 month bout with cancer, we decided to let Mac go to doggie Heaven to run with Pinta, Radar, and his other four-legged buddies. He was diagnosed in September but with a lot of love, pampering and pain medicine he did remarkably well - so much so that we thought he had been misdiagnosed. He had a wonderful Christmas - thoroughly enjoyed the festivities but afterwards things went downhill fast. Last week, he was very stoic (typical greyhound) but obviously felt bad. By Saturday, we could tell the pain was excruciatimg. Nothing I did seemed to help and we knew it was not going to get better. He passed gently into sleep at the vet's with his Mom and Dad by his side.
Mac loved Roger who gave him warm, gentle baths and talked to him. He always looked for Roger when we went to GFNC.
Mac loved all the dog beds at GFNC and would get a running start then jump on all of them.
When he was healthy, he loved the play group and was a very bad influence on all the other greyhounds - leading them to the creek, horse trough, pond, horse poop, etc. etc. Life was great.
I am sure, in his own way, he is sorry he peed on the Christmas decorations.
We miss him very much. |

So sorry for your loss. Helping our furry family members to cross the bridge is the most loving thing we can do. They speak loud and clear when it's time. I went thru the same thing back in October. It's what lead our family to consider adopting our first greyhound.
Yankee (1992-2007) was the most wonderful little furbaby black Lab. We miss her dearly. Her portrait and pedegree still hang in our home.
I sure Mac and Yankee are becoming fast friends. Love abounds!
