For all of you who love Maddie's antics - the last 2 years have not been dull at the Martin household, when I adopted Maddie I knew that I was going to fun and laughter and work (not in that order) but I did not realize that there would be:
-The rabbit in the house story (Maddie wanted me to see the rabbit that she caught in the backyard so she brought it into the house to share with me). and me screaming "Drop the bunny, followed by want a cookie" to get her to drop it.
-The Great Protector- Barking at the mechanical lit deer that Jan (now Zoey's mom) had out at Christmas time last year
-Spa day at playgroup- for her royal highness after she works up running so hard she likes to pamper herself with mud- first time she did this when my Dad (her grampy) was visiting in January of this year. She did it yesterday as well.
-and everyone's recent favorite at BBH 07- the door eating incident when a few of us went out to dinner for 1 1/2 hours and Maddie had managed to chew the door. Harry Potter had the death eaters in their books- we have Maddie the door eater and the WHOLE hotel knew about it the next morning- talk about being famous MADS.
These are just a few of our stories but ones that most of you know, the others include her get her rearend kicked by my friends cat when we were visiting in PA on our way to visit my parents on Nantucket for a week,
Maddie's first high speed ferry trip. Seeing her try to get her sea legs was quite comical (ferry travels at almost 40 miles an hour) and needing a crash helmet when she goes up and down the stairs in the house.
but all in all- she has brought greyt joy and comfort to me in my life (she is a good nurse when I have been sick) and others that she has touched in the last 2 years. Especially people that she meets at M&G they all want to take her home, the people at Southminister the assisted living we go to for pet therapy, when I go there without her, they only ask me where she is and don't ask about me (they all love her that much) I am just her driver.
So I raise my Diet coke to Maddie on our 2nd gotcha day and say thanks for the joy, laughs, and sometimes tears (yes tears) she has brought me and the new groups of friends that I have met through her. and yes she is getting a frosty paw today!!
Hugs
Amy and Maddie
