Here is their story -


We live in the Shepherds Vineyard subdivision of Huntersville. On Monday, August 13, we left Freckles in the enclosed backyard of our home at 5:15 am in order to take me to Mercy/CNC hospital for surgery. She was left alone in the backyard since she had diarrhea. Freckles was checked by our daughter at 9 am and all was well. Sometime between 9 am and 1:30 pm, a member of the Underground Utilities Locator consortium marked our complete yard, including the fenced backyard, for installation of an irrigation system. One of these individuals must have left the gate open, allowing Freckles to escape. This person denied having done this. Several of our neighbors reported seeing Freckles running free in the neighborhood. We placed flyers similar to the one sent to you around the neighborhood, plus copies at all of the local animal care facilities/hospitals. We also notified the Animal Control Officers for Huntersville and Cornelius (with whom Judi is well acquainted due to her work with the Cornelius Animal Shelter). We also notified the relevant Greyhound Rescue organizations (Freckles is registered at the national registry and tattooed).

We will meet at 9am at the Huntersville Square Shopping Center on Statesville Road.

Take I-77 to exit 23
if you are going North on I-77 turn right off exit ramp
if you are going South on I-77 turn left off exit ramp
Turn left onto Hwy 21-Statesville Road
Turn right into the Huntersville Square Shopping Center
Meet in the lot near the entrance

If you have a local area map bring it. Also bring tape and/or stapler to put up flyers. We will run off copies of the flyer on bright paper. If you can also make additional copies email and I will send flyer to you. The dog does not have a collar on so bring a collar , leash and treats.

Checking for news of Freckles. Can someone give us an update?

We too would like some news.....I've been worried sick.

No sighting of Freckles yet. A group went up Saturday and put out more flyers and talked to people. Flyers are being hung in neighborhoods, shopping centers, fast food restaurants, etc and we are talking with everyone we see. There are more searchers out today.

Huntersville has a lot of wooded area with neighboorhoods and shopping areas scattered. Hopefully she will be seen by someone soon and a sighting reported.

Nothing new to report. Both Amy and Mary were able to go out yesterday and talk to more people. Rick talked to Mary tonight and the search area will be expanded for more flyers. Hopefully someone will see the flyers and call.

the area that has been flyered has been posted on greytalk ad it is free to register there (www.greytalk.com) there is an interactive map going that shows where the flyers are and the location of the owners home.

i went down this morning to help search and we put up more flyers. one of the neighbors said he had seen her about a week ago so it sounds like she is still in the area. it breaks my heart to not have found her today. hang in there freckles everybody's searching for you.

Yes a sighting was reported. The sighting was a week ago and they are just now calling. Call when you see the dog, PLEEESSSSEEEE. Thankfully they did call and didn't just ignore it.

Rick is picking up the trap from Triangle Greyhound when he goes to the kennel tomorrow. So hopefully another sighting will occur soon AND the people will call as soon as they see her.

she will let you know what area needs covered. I tried to update the map on Greytalk and I was "technically challenged".

Also if you have time to help but are not located close enough we can still use you. We need to fax flyers to businesses in the area. So if anyone could search for businesses in that area of Huntersville and find fax numbers that would be great.

There is still hope for Freckles. If you read the Amber Alerts on Greytalk you will see they can survive for awhile on their own. This area has lots of woods and streams where she can cool off.
