Hey All! I took Dolly to the vet today for a post-dental examination. My vet was supportive of trying non-anesthetic dental cleaning but she wanted to see the result before she decided if it was a good or bad thing. It's good! Vet was surprised at how great Dolly's teeth look and how easy the procedure was for all three of my dogs. Vet found a couple of tiny areas of remaining tartar on sensitive exposed roots where Dolly's gums have receded. Vet said those areas are too painful to touch without anesthesia. Overall she is very pleased with Dolly's mouth and thinks non-anesthetic dental cleaning is a good idea. Especially for older dogs or dogs who are at risk from anesthesia.
Kathy Hobson with Houndstooth should be back in Charlotte in 6 months to do another weekend of cleanings. After seeing the vet today I am 100% sold. I highly recommend it.
Don't know if I told you about the cost....I got three dogs done for $400.00. That is half what I would pay for one dog with pre-anesthesia blood work, anesthesia, etc.
Best Wishes!
Karen
