My greys have taught me to keep a tidy kitchen. lol. The microwave is a safe place to store things. _________________ Linda

Well gee, I guess I should be glad I'm not as stupid as other Men. I know all of the signs from My three Greys and each one is uniquely different. Guess that makes Me almost as smart as My wife, She knows them too.
As for the crates, I've never needed them, never used them and never will, although I do realize that some dogs feel more comfortable with them. We have left our dogs for hours and never had a problem. Just the difference between adoption groups I guess, ours trained them to not need the crate and for that I'm truly grateful.

Now Gary-I said I was sorry and didn't mean all men. This guy was single anyway, but hey-I take everything back. I was gone for 3 days and the first night back, Sport must have done something to tell me he had to go out and I must have missed it-and I'll be darned if he didn't go up in the kitchen and pee on the floor-that is a first for him and I've had him for 6 years. But maybe after losing Sherry in June and then me not around for 3 days he was trying to tell me something.
Unfortunately, we aren't able to teach the dogs to not need a crate at the kennel-don't know how we would do it with sometimes over 40 dogs. _________________ Blanche E Fedor

Ahhhh, I was just funnin' with Ya. I hope it was a tile floor He peed on, it's a lot easier to clean up from tile. It would be good if GFNC had a similar program like GPA-SC has with the prison system to work with and train these hounds. It's a win win deal and it really does work.

Yes, it was a tile floor.
I've seen those prison trained dogs on Animal Planet and they do great with them.
It's too bad all the states don't get more of the prisoners into something like that-it gives them a reason to turn themselves around and feel good about what they are doing. _________________ Blanche E Fedor

Gabby-
You mention no room in bed for you when Jacey got up on the bed. I am visiting my parents at our summer place and am sleeping with Maddie in a twin bed. Talk about no room with a 67 1/2 # bed hog. She has found all the beds in the house, has tried to get up on the couch. and Mom and Dad keep forgetting to close the door to the bathroom as she will go through the trash in there several times. But that is my Maddie and she is still sleeping as I write this on my little twin bed. _________________ Amy

Counter surfers??? Greyhounds???? Tell me it isn't true.
Jasmine is quite fond of banana nut bread snatched from the counter. And hamburger patties when Rick turned his back. Dark German rye bread (a whole loaf) peanut butter jar and strawberries. My baby is a food hound.
She was also a hoarder. Whenever we were missing anything we knew to look in her crate. She would take shoes, socks, books, remotes, whatever. She wouldn't destroy them just carry them in there so they were with her. So if anything turns up missing, check the crate.
Yes greyhounds quickly teach us to clean off the counter and the one time we forget they will find it. So make sure all medicines and vitamens are kept in a cabinet. _________________

I bet we could write a book about all the things our greys have eaten. Freebird ate 138 out of 180 vitamin pills that I just bought at the vets, dropped him off home and went for groceries. That's where I learned about peroxide to make them throw up. Our cornish hens-supposed to be Thanksgiving dinner instead of turkey. What a counter surfer was he.
I guess Sport figured as long as he got a thyroid pill every meal it might help to eat the whole bottle-oops-a trip to the em.vet.
All fun aside-I knew a grey that died because he got his owners diet pills.
As the song goes-those are a few of my favorite things. _________________ Blanche E Fedor

I guess everyone who has a grey who likes to sleep in the bed should get a bed like mine....I have a California King size bed.
Blue is the only one of our doggies who will get in the bed...and believe
it or not,no matter how big the bed is...she still manages to take up the whole bed!!!
I did have to get Gary to lower the bed because it sat high off the floor.I wanted to make it easier for Blue to get up...she's 11yrs.old.I also thought if i lowered the bed the other 2 might get in...but they didn't.So it's just me and Blue!!

i know what you mean K-Town. I have a king size bed and Pandy sleeps with me at night.Thankfully Trooper sleeps on the floor. It's amazing how big my bed is and how Pandy can get in the right spot every time where i can't even get into bed! They must teach them that at greyhound school! |
