Silver may have to have an upper canine tooth extracted (we won't know for sure until xrays are taken). Has anyone had any experience with this?

Thank,
Kim, Silver and Holly

The last 2 dentals that Jilli had required extractions. The last one included an upper canine tooth.

It made her bottom canine stick out over her lip, but I found that very cute. Her tongue snuck out more, but again I found that cute.

The bigger issues arrise when it is the grinding molars. A missing canine should not cause any concerns for you or Silver.

Canine tooth extractions are obviously more invasive. The dog should be on antibiotics, starting a few days before surgery.
They usually recover just fine, feed soft food for a week or so and they are good to go.
The only risk I know of with upper canines is that the hole that gets covered with a skin flap and sewed shut can open up again and create an opening to the sinuses, which can get infected if food gets stuck in there.
