First thing you have to do if find the sourse of the flee problem. IF you found 1 there are many more. You need to eleminate the existing flees so that once the dog is treated, the cycle will end.
Do you have other pets, Cats (indoor or out) ?
Wash all dog beds, and treat carpets and rugs.
Get a Capstar tablet from your vet, this will kill the flees on the dog, then after about an hour or so, give the dog a bath to remove "Flee Dirt".
If you have other dogs, you need to do the same, IF you have indoor cats, they need to be treated with Revolution. An indoor cat will be a "Flee Condo" for any flees brought inside if the cat isn't treated.
Best ongoing flee treatment I have found is to use Sentinal Heart Worm pills each month. This takes care of almost everything. Including flees.
Hope this helps. _________________ Debbie, mom to Reggie, Tim Tam, Chloe Isabeau, Jessie James and Jossie. (2 legged kids Cody and Kelly) Hubby Ron |

Last year we were literally infested with fleas. (Now isn't that embarrassing to admit!!) We were applying Frontline to the dogs every three weeks. Capstar only gave the dogs a few hours of relief and then the fleas were back. (I don't know if you can use Frontline and Revolution together, probably not. You'll want to check with your vet.)
We did not use flea bombs in the house. They contain permethrin and are toxic to Greys. We treated our lawn with some nasty stuff and even that didn't get rid of them.
What FINALLY got rid of the nasty creatures was using Boric Acid on the carpet. We had our regular pest control company apply it. The advantages of them doing it over doing it ourselves were: they use a more finely ground product than you can buy at the hardware store and they used motorized brushes that pushed the boric acid way down into the carpet. Boric Acid is an eye irritant but is otherwise not toxic. Our guys were not bothered by it.
And (fingers tightly crossed!!) those rotten nasty creatures have not returned this year!!!
If you've caught them early enough the Revolution and Capstar and washing beds, etc, may do the trick. If not, you might want to try the Boric Acid.
Good Luck!!! (Man, I hate those nasty critters even worse than spiders!)

BG-Before Greys we had an Irish Wolfhound who picked up lots of fleas. We had a renter behind us that kept his dogs tied outside. We had to treat Gizmo and we used the Boric Acid. It did a wonderful job. We also had a professional apply it. We also sprayed a flea product in the backyard before we left for vacation (and on the hedge between our lots).
With the greyhounds we use Frontline during the summer and in the winter we flea comb. We also use Diatomaceous Earth (food grade) in the back yard. It is a natural fossiled product that kills all kinds of buggly wugglies. You can find info at Only registered users can see links on this forum! If you don't feel you are overrun by fleas and don't want to call in a professional, we have sprinkled 20 Mule Team Borax on the carpets just before bedtime and vacuumed it up good the next morning. We have done this about mid summer for the last two years and haven't been bothered with fleas.
I don't like to use chemicals on the greys if I don't have to, and have only used Frontline about once each summer for the last couple of years. _________________ Blanche E Fedor
