Last week I came home and noticed that Dexter's
right paw was slightly swollen. After panicking I tried to imagine what it could be. He was not limping or favoring it. I checked with Dr Heidi on
last week's journey to the vet (for issues with the others) and she said it couldn't be heart related with fluid build up in just one paw. She wanted to take an x-ray. So, got in there today and it looks OK. A little fluid and swelling but no sign of the big C. It is most likely a sprain. She gave us a supplement to take down the swelling that will not hurt his kidneys and heart that are starting to wear out. Thumbs up
He is 11 and 1/2 and so special to me, he was my spook and he has come a long way since I brought him home 7 and 1/2 years ago. The old people know him as I tried to bring him out and make him a meet and greet dog but he hated it and after a year or so I told him I would stop dragging him all over and just got another dog to do that work for him. That is when we had the feisty and loving Princess Ariel. My first foster failure. love
Anyway, keep your fingers crossed for us and lets pray it is just a sprain and will go away so I can have him a little while longer. Pray
Thanks

Dexter, you rest your paw so you get better. Mommy and Dad will bring you whatever you need. Food, treats, water, pillow, whatever.

Hugs to handsome Dexter from all of us! Yes, I remember way back when Dexter was so shy, he would hide in his crate when anyone came to the house..especially men. I think John was the only man he would actually let pet him! He always was one of John's favorites!

BTW, I was going through some old pictures the other night and found some of Heffie playing with Ariel, Smoot and Dexter! They were long ago when we only had one greyhound....LOL

So glad to hear Dexter's doing well. I'm one of the "old people" that remembers his dislike for public appearances. Very Happy

And how could one forget the fiesty, vocal Ariel! What a personality! My failed foster, Chloe, who came along later, had a lot of that Ariel personality.

Ah, the memories.

Be well, Dexter, and make more memories for your huMom.

Yes, John and Dan were the only men he trusted and felt safe with back in the early days. He hates going out still but loves for people to come visit him at his house now !! Laughing
He barks at strangers then comes up waggin his tail for petting and once you start petting him he won't let you stop.
The swelling in his paw looks a tiny bit smaller today, maybe tomorrow I will see more of a difference as the medicine has more time to work.
It is a vanilla flavored pill that he is not impressed with...Dexter likes meat flavor!!

Thanks for everyone's good wishes Very Happy
we appreciate it.
