When you adopted you should have received a blue slip in the adoption packet. That is the slip you use to have the owner sign over his ownership. The National Greyhound Association can give you the current owners name/address for you to mail the blue slip to along with a letter requesting they sign and a self-addressed stamped envelope for them to return the slip to you. Their phone number is 785-263-4660 and give them the tatoo numbers for the owner info.

This website gives you info on pymt and sending in the blue slip.

You can pick up a blue transfer form at the kennel. There is also a sheet with instructions on what the requirements are to get Pandy registered in your name. The cost is $20.00. My daughter has all three of her greys registered in her name. I haven't done it with my two.

If you go to the link from Lynda, you can read about what you will need to do.

At the bottom of the page you can request the form via email. The form will come to you prefilled with the dog's information and the owner of record.

You send the form to the owner of record with an SASE and have it sent back to you.

The final step is sending the signed form and your check to the NGA.

I just received my baby boy's Pet Cert a few week's ago.

My old girl, I called her original owner and asked if I could send him the form and then I included pictures and a letter with the form. He wrote a quick note and returned the form signed.

My middle boy, I did the same, but he was from a large kennel and I am not sure if his owner actually remembered him. But he signed the form and returned it.

My baby, well he was preadopted and I got his signed blue slip when I brought him home. I know his owners and trainer personally, so I knew there would be no issues with them.

Actually, it is now 30.00 to get ownership transfered. I just recd Maddie's last week. (we had recd it earlier but they had spelled some things wrong so they sent a corrected version)
I sent a SASE to the prior owners along with a letter about Maddie and I as well as photos. He sent back a letter stating he was happy to hear that she went to a great home and that she is a Therapy Dog and signed the form We sent them a Christmas card as well.

Also make sure that you put down GFNC address and the they will donate 10.00 of the 30.00 to GFNC.

Thanks for all the info. I'll make sure to use GFNC's info so they get the funds.

So here i am. I've had Pandy almost 4 months now. I decided to send off the transfer form so Pandy will truly be mine ( or is that i am hers???) hmmmm!. Anyway i send off my tranfer form to the owners with a letter and a picture of Pandy asking them to sign ownership over to me. After a week or so i receive a letter back from the owners thanking me for adopting Pandy. The letter talks about Pandy and her littermates. I could tell this was not a form letter but actually written by someone who knew and remembered Pandy. So i send off the signed transfer form with $30.00.
Anxiously i wait......... Finally i receive a letter from the NGA with my check for $30.00??? The letter says they are returning my check because a pet certificate has already been issued to me and the original owners had paid the transfer fee. I couldn't believe it!
I have since received the pet certificate. I am now truly Pandy's!! I mean Pandy is truly mine!!
WHAT A GREAT DAY!!

Congratulations to you!!!! Being owned by a greyhound is a wonderful thing. That was very nice of the previous owners to do the transfer for you!! I have only received one letter from the owner when requesting they sign the slip. It was a very nice letter thanking me for my adoption of Miles. That one letter made up for the times I didn't get even then slip back.

WOW - I am rally impressed that they would do that/ Maddie's previous owner left the donation line (10.00 of the fee goes to the adoption group of your choice) at the bottom blank so I of course put in GFNC.

Also my letter back was typed but they remembered her well and aslo thanked me that I adopted her.

That is really nice for you.
I only got a note back on Smooty my first one. It was on a slip of paper like a grocery list and I thought hmm....

but then I never got anything back on Dexter.

Well, I was thankful I got the slip back --but no note or anything. I thought---"he doesn't even care where he went"???

What I did was call the registered owners before I sent them the slip. That way they knew the slip was on the way.

Jilli was owned by an small time owner (older man) and when I mailed him the slip I included a letter with pictures. He wrote a nice note back and even went to college here in GSO as a young man.

With Deniro his owner was a big time owner and I can understand how he did not remember every single dog, especially in Deniro's case since he never ran a race. The owners do not necessarily meet/know the dogs they own; the trainers or kennel owners know the dogs.

With Bernard I know his owners since he is an FTH pre-adopted pup. His blue slip was signed when I picked him up on vacation last year.

Awesome! Over the last 10 years I've seen a huge improvement in communication between adopters and breeders, very nice!
