On Friday with much sadness we had to send Leo to the bridge. Over the last week Leo's health quickly went down hill. We knew it was time just by the look in his eyes. He is running with all the others that have gone before him. He couldn't stand up at the end but now we know he is running and playing.

We only had Leo a short nine months and each day was a joy. At 12 1/2 years of age he would "zoom" around the back yard each morning with a big smile on his face. He would come in the house pick a bed and say wake me for dinner guys.

Leo ran an impressive 192 races prior to his retirement. At Open House he showed us that he still had it and ran 23 mph in the Hound Dash. The biggest smile you ever saw on his face.

We love you Leo and thank you for giving us such joy while you were here.

that is a wonderful picture of sweet leo. what a handsome boy he was. he will be missed a ton, but is now running free with those that have gone before him.
lynda and rick, you two are so special to have opened your hearts and your home to this sweetie...when you weren't "looking" to get another dog. he was a special one and you seemed to know that his place was to be with you. although his time with you was short, it was no doubt filled with some happy and special times.
run free, sweet boy....

Rick & Lynda:
You two are really special - you've opened your home and your hearts to several seniors, knowing that the time together would be short. You have had a wonderful and memorable 9 months with Leo - I am sure they were the best 9 months of his life! The picture is a treasure - look how happy he is Very Happy

Thanks to both of you for all that you do for the greyhounds and the group.

Yes, Leo is gone and Leo will be missed but what a fortunate dog he was to have landed in your home and loving arms for the time he had left. You guys are wonderful to open your hearts and home to so many seniors... you inspire me. I know it gets tough... but the rewards are there and I just want you to know that I have so much respect for you both. I know you are sad... but I know your lives were also made richer by having Leo. God bless!

There was a senior at Mountain Hounds that looked just like Leo. I hugged him and told the owners how much he reminded me of our Leo who had just passed. (even the collar was the same). Every time they saw me they would bring him over for me to cuddle with. That was a comfort for me.

We never know how much time we will have with our greyhound and with the seniors that time is especially short. The beautiful white face and the look in their eyes will draw you in and your heart is helplessly in love. Leo is gone but he will live forever in our hearts. And another senior will speak to us. We will bring him or her home and give them all they need for as long as they are here. In turn, they will give us all they have and will live in our hearts forever. I think that is a pretty fair trade.

they are very special indeed and i am learning everyday just how much they become part of our hearts. sounds like leo was very lucky to have found you all and you all to have had him as well. that greyface they have is so sweet and leo looks like in his picture he is very happy. im starting to think they send us little things from the bridge to remind us of them and to let them know they are ok, and to help us through as well. you all are special people. run fast leo, run fast and feel free. you are missed
