Tonight we did dog nails. We use a dremel tool and for Leo I have to slowly feed him treats to keep him occupied while Rick does his nails. It is the only way to get him to let us trim them. When Smokey's time came I had the treats ready. The first touch of the dremel he pulled his paw back and sniffed. Rick took his paw again and I treated him. Then the boy laid his head down on my leg AND WENT TO SLEEP!!! We couldn't believe it. He is just amazing!
He has discovered one of the toys we bought for him. It is like a big stuffie jack rock (like in the kids game jacks). Each end has a squeaker. He squeaked it and dropped it. And 'looked' around like where did that come from. He did that several times and each time he looked surprised. This morning the dogs got up early to go out and we left Smokey on his bed while we tried to catch a few more zzz's. From the living room we hear squeak, squeak. Then a pause and then squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak. Over and over. I think he has figured it out! Silly loveable boy!
