OK This might sound crazy but im just wondering. Hubby and I are both deathly sick with the flu. Was wondering if there is anything i need to do for my girls or not. We were just thinking that if it is so contagious for humans how would it affect our girls. Hopefully i am just being overly cautious. I mean we are really sick. Have not been out for days. I think our girls are taking care of us Sad Would just like some info.

I have read about equine flu being passed to dogs. And avian and pig flu being passed to humans. But in the other direction I have only read about ferrets being able to catch the flu from humans.

Good question. If anyone has read about humans to dogs, let us know.

Also, hope you guys are feeling better soon!

I've never heard of any cases of human - dog influenza transmission and an internet search also suggested it isn't a worry. Interestingly enough, ferrets do appear to be susceptible to human influenza.

Feel better soon!

when I had the flu right before Christmas, Maddie was a really good nurse, she never left my side when I was in bed. I think she knew something was not right with her Mommy.

It is going around again from what I have heard.

Feel better soon.

Feel better soon! I have been very lucky - the one good thing about working from home is I don't get exposed to the flu germies...but the bad thing about that is I don't build up natural immunities because I'm never exposed to anything so when I DO get near someone who is sick, I am at risk. I asked my vet about this a long time ago after I had been sick and then my cat seemed to have similar symptoms.
She said that it is not supposed to be true but she often sees it happen.
I think it has to do with the strong emotional, physical, spiritual connection we have with our animals and it certainly doenst happen every time we get sick but occaisionally does. I dont think we need to do anything more to prevent it than we would do for our 2 legged family members.
