Ester gets at least one bleeding stop pad (name the "Dummy" book uses)whenever she runs off-leash at a local atlethic park. The surface is grass and not what I'd consider hard. We keep the raw spot clean and cared for, but I can tell it is sore for several days after.

Usually, she gets leash walks during the week and romps on the weekend.

Is this normal? Should we bandage her stop pads before going to the park?

Mark

Pre is a monster in an open field, and gets these quite often too. His are never too bad, but they do often bleed. I have never thought about it, but vet wrap would work wonders! Wrap it a couple times, and you should be set.

Does she zig zag a lot? When we lived in Boone, we used to take Paradise to an enclosed area that had some concrete and unfortunately the year we got her was crazy snowy so the concrete was often the only space with no snow on it (and Miss Paradise did not DO snow!). We ended up wrapping her pads and dew claws with vet wrap and eventually started putting the Therapaw booties on her feet so she could run without yucky feet.

Ester thinks she is a retriever and loves to chase a thrown ball and apparently rubs her stop pads slamming on the brakes.

Thanks Chris! We will try some vet wrap and see if that helps.
