Hi all,
Justice my 6 year old greyhound has broken his right lower canine. It broke off at an angle and it is pretty significant of a fracture. We took him to the Vet and she said to take him to a specialist because it was a big enough fracture to compromise the pulp. I understand that there are only 3 Vet. dentists in the area that do specialty work. To preserve the tooth we would have to do a root canal with a crown and that costs $$$$$$$. About $1500.00 on average, ouch! But, I heard that extraction of those lower canines can be problematic. Like the mandible bone fracturing and such. Gosh, I don't know what to do. It just happened the other day. He is eating and does not seems to be in any pain. Any input or suggestions or information or past experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Teresa and Justice :-)

Ouch, that had to hurt!
I have no experience with lower canine teeth, but my Oliver was knocked down by Gracie causing his head to hit the patio. His upper canine tooth was dangling and blood was everywhere. Fortunately it fell out in the vet's hand and he never missed a meal.
I hope you can find a simpler fix for Justice. |

I'm with Debbie on this one, My three don't chew when they eat, it's more like a Dyson vacuum cleaner at work. The only time Mine chew anything is when they eat a treat and that's with the back teeth.
