Very sad news:
This evening at 6:07 PM Millicent slipped away and joind her beloved Jett at the Bridge.
She was surrounded by her family and went very peacefully.
The Greyhound world has lost one of it's best.
God speed, Millicent, my friend.
From the Care Pages site:
The Funeral service will be at 11am on Thursday March 22 at Naples Baptist Church on Rugby Drive. Pastor Richard Merck, who visited Millicent in Hospice several times will be officiating. You can see the Church from Route 25. There is a cemetary on the corner of Rugby Drive. Visitors will be welcome from 10am to 11am. There will be a Memorial Service here at the house on Thursday afternoon at 3pm for anyone who would like to attend, with or without their Greyhounds. Anyone who would like to speak at that time will be welcome to do so.
Aletha Roper has agreed to sing at this service, she already has something in mind. Aletha also came to the Hospice and sang to Millicent yesterday, the day that she passed. Millicents ashes will be scattered off her balcony in accordance with her wishes. At a predetermined time all the Greyhounds and any other dogs that care to join in will be encouraged to roo and give Millicent a fitting send off. As friends are working on the details for the Memorial Service at the house we can give more details, beyond the time when we know them. The family chose 3pm as a convenient time for them. Millicents house at 140, Rugby Forest Lane is minutes from the Church. Continue up Rugby Drive and turn right onto Rugby Forest. Jerry is planning on putting the back seats back in Millicents van and shuttling people from the Church to alleviate parking problems at the house. Teri Bentcover, a good friend of Millicents, has generously offered to accomodate up to 5 people in her spare bedrooms if anyone needs to stay overnite. Teri lives minutes from Millicent. Her phone # is 828-696-2558. Cell 828-606-0826. We are hoping for a wonderful turnout to honor Millicent.
IN LEUI OF FLOWERS THE FAMILY HAS REQUESTED THAT THOSE WHO WISH MAKE A DONATION IN HER HONOR TO THEIR FAVORITE CHARITY, WHETHER IT BE ANIMAL RELATED OR OTHERWISE.
We believe that this is what Millicent would have wanted.
