OK This might sound crazy but im just wondering. Hubby and I are both deathly sick with the flu. Was wondering if there is anything i need to do for my girls or not. We were just thinking that if it is so contagious for humans how would it affect our girls. Hopefully i am just being overly cautious. I mean we are really sick. Have not been out for days. I think our girls are taking care of us Would just like some info.

I've never heard of any cases of human - dog influenza transmission and an internet search also suggested it isn't a worry. Interestingly enough, ferrets do appear to be susceptible to human influenza.

when I had the flu right before Christmas, Maddie was a really good nurse, she never left my side when I was in bed. I think she knew something was not right with her Mommy.
It is going around again from what I have heard.

I asked my vet about this a long time ago after I had been sick and then my cat seemed to have similar symptoms.
She said that it is not supposed to be true but she often sees it happen.
I think it has to do with the strong emotional, physical, spiritual connection we have with our animals and it certainly doenst happen every time we get sick but occaisionally does. I dont think we need to do anything more to prevent it than we would do for our 2 legged family members.
