Sorry for the slow update. I must admit i've been a little pre occupied the last few days!

Let me start by saying i've decided to change Emma's name back to Pandy which is her original name. I talked with a few friend's and family and they thought it was a good idea. So Emma is officially Pandy again.
So far she has been fantastic! Had i known greyhounds were like this I would have had one long ago! I know she had been adopted previously so she probably has adjusted faster than normal but all i can say is wow! She has been so good i can't believe it. As far as adjusting goes my only concern is with the cats. Pandy is so good. She doesn't make any move whatsoever towards the cats. She almost acts like they're not even there.

The cats are coming along a lot faster than i would have thought. Pandy is a lot bigger than them so they are a little cautious when she gets close but other than that they are doing really good.

Below is a picture of Pandy that i just took . She is being a very good girl!!!

She did keep me awake the night before last. When i go to bed i keep her crate in my bedroom. She waited until i was good and asleep and then she started whining. I did my best to ignore her but she just kept on. I finally gave her a firm "HUSH"!
That worked for about 30 seconds..... She did finally settle down.

Last night my parents and sister came over to visit . ( i think they really came to see Pandy!) Anyway my mom asked if Pandy could come out of her crate. I hesitated then said "let's try putting her muzzle on her and let her walk around loose. Well Pandy had the best time! (So did my mom! Pandy washed her face but good with her tongue! ) Pandy just kept walking from person to person getiing all the lovin she could stand! The cats were right there too.
After they left i decided to try letting her sleep on my bed with her muzzle on. (just for the safety of the cats). She was great! She laid at the bottom of the bed with her head resting on my legs all night. ( and no whining!!!) She didn't make a move to get up until i got up. Once she knew i was awake she got so excited. She was rolling all around on the bed. I think i even saw a liitle roaching!

I noticed on the GFNC web site that "Mike" has an adoption pending. That made me smile. He was one of the three that i was lucky enough to meet. I would have picked him if not for Pandy. He's gonna make someone very happy!

Well i've blubbered on long enough. Stay tuned for my next installment!
Greg

Thanks for the update. I love to hear from new adopters about how things are going. Pandy is so cute but I love black females. I got 2 of them Smile

Is Pandy getting any muzzle off time out of the crate? If not I would suggest putting the cats away in a room and let her. It sounds like she is doing well. Being in a home before helps them but they also come with some habits you might not have allowed. Several of my hounds are not cat safe. Tessie will go into a trance and start to stalk towards her prey even if the cat is a block away. I have no doubt she would kill a cat. Star has killed 3 squirrels this year.

I adopted my Mem right off the track and when we picked up up from the owner she was the only one without a muzzle. lol. The owner then told me I could put a muzzle on her, but it would not stay on and she would chew it up. (I wonder how many muzzles they lost to Mem) lol. I knew then I was in trouble. She will not stop until she gets it off and if one of the other dogs are wearing a muzzle she will try to take it off of them. lol.

In the morning when i'm geting ready for work i keep her in the bedroom with the door closed. She roams muzzle free.
A couple of times she has trotted out of her crate and down the hallway before i can get her muzzle on. I just called her name and she came back so i could muzzle her.
From what i've seen so far i cold probably take her muzzle off most of the time. I just want to to be safe until my cats get aa little more comfortable with her.

i think i've already got her voice trained to go in her crate. I just point towards it and say "crate" and she goes right in. That will be helpful during my meal times,
