There is standing water in my yard. I swear if we get any more rain in the next month

Our yard is like that too! I am tired of cleaning paws. They come in after running and they have mud from head to tail What is the best way to clean their feet? We just towel them off any better ideas? _________________ Leah mom to Romeo, Abbey, Sweetie, Maggie the collie and Luke at the bridge. Waiting on Tippy and Cindy Lou. |

Cleaning feet-We have a water bucket sitting by the back door, and one at a time pick their feet (or 2 at a time, fronts then backs) and dip them in the water, then towel them off. Only takes about 30 seconds per dog, and you get NO MUD in your house!! _________________ Chris Carpenter

I have the bucket as well, I also have booties (kind of like the therpa paw) to put on her feet if they are so bad. I hate having a light colored floor in the kitchen as it seems I am always cleaning it

There was more mud at Charlotte playgroup Sat. than there is in My yard.
I just hose them off if needed.

Wow, Totty. I thought it was bad here, but the water's really deep at your house if you've got your own bridge!
But seriously folks, I've already designed the perfect dog friendly house in my mind and it will have a nice large mudroom area for just such weather! As it is, if we go out the front door, we walk directly into the living room (no foyer) and if we go out the back door we walk directly into the only carpeted room in the house. sadly, we bought the dog friendly house and now have the large mud room/dog room and......
it is a large dog room full of MUD !!!!!!!
We can keep them in there till we get them dried off and cleaned off
but they get very offended about that.
And, guess who is the biggest dirt magnet???

Yes, this weather has got to go!
Luckily, my carpet is dark rust color, so the mud blends in! _________________ Cathy & Crew

I have my 5 dogs and 2 fosters at the house, it is crazy how much mud they track inside!!
I wipe and wipe, and dip paws in water buckets, and keep wiping - it seems neverending!
I put out mulch, but it gets soupy. I put out straw on their muddy racetracks, they push it to the outside when racing around the corner. I put out old floor mats, they just drown in mud. What to do??
This morning was a little better because the ground was almost frozen.
I put down gravel along the foundation, at least the afghan with her hairy feet potties on the gravel so she doesn't get her feet wet, but the greys hate the gravel. _________________ Christina

I have tried all the same things as you, my next plan is to make a boardwalk/ deck across the worst of the mud path on the way to the door.
The wood doesn't seem to be too slippery and I can hose it off when it gets caked in mud, or put outdoor carpet on it to make more traction and then hose that off too.
Someone needs to invent a product that will cover the mud and not be slippery and be washable somehow. _________________ Totty
