I talked to the good folks at Greyhound Crossroads yesterday and told them that Bo and Corky were getting along well together and we want to finalize our adoption of Corky. Will get with their coordinator Monday or Tuesday and make it official.
Whether they know they are related, I can't say. I do know that they have done a great job of sharing space, toys, food and the past two weeks have been without incident. Corky is a large, energetic hound that responds quickly to commands and settles down when told almost immediately. He bows on command and will bark when he sees people coming to the front door. Corky and I are now trying to teach Bo a few new things by example.
As with any displaced prince, we had to spend time with Bo to reassure him he hasn't been replaced but overall he's been pretty accepting. In fact, I think he really likes having Corky around. At least now if the red velvet cupcakes or the pound cake disappears, Bo might not have to take all the heat. ;)
I'm really glad that I keep up with Corky over the years including both owners. I'm truly sorry that the Kuhns were put in a difficult situation of having to give up all 3 of their greys but thankful that I found my real Christmas present on the Greyhound Crossroads website Christmas Day. I really do think my chance glance at the available hounds happened for a special reason and right now there's one very content greyhound sleeping in Bo crate that has finally arrived "home".
Have some photos to post and as soon as I read figure out the instructions Lynda sent me, I'll post a few new ones.
Take care and we'll see you all soon.
Kirk
BTW - The boys have a birthday coming up on Feb. 12th. |

Congreyts! It's both a happy ending and a new beginning. Things happen for a reason.
The joy at having Corky there is obvious in your post. I'm so glad he's home. _________________ Cynthia, huMom to Carly (Cw Your Charming), Princess (Lofty Princess), & Cruz, the galgo

Bo and Corky get to celebrate their 7th birthday TOGETHER tomorrow. We've been practicing "Happy Birthday to Roo" all week and think they are definitely in fine voice for this special event.
Corky's new XLG metal crate arrived this week and he loves it. Bo's thrilled too because he gets his back now. ;) We leave the door open but both of them really like having there own special place (or each others) to go for a nap.
Got Corky's medical records from Banfield Vet Clinic in SC the other day and were able to see the full account and treatment from Corky's accident he had in 2005. Aimee called him her "Miracle Boy" and we can really see why now. Without some great care from the vets, a lot of TLC from the family and one tough hound, they would have lost him. We're glad he made it and growing more so by the day as all of us grow closer.
Don't ya just love them?
Take care-
Kirk
