As I have been doing fostering and owning greys for over 17 years I have seen every color there is in a grey. I will say the the type of coat and color is a big deciding factor in how much they shed. Some greys even though they are black or brindle have a bit of a long coat and our Jack, a black and Johnny and Chelsea, brindles, were such dogs. They shed year round just like Katie our cow dog. Whistle, Wizard, Baron, and Lovey [2 blacks and 3 brindles] hardly ever shed unless we changed their diet.
One of the things that we found that really helped with the shredding was to give each dog 1000mg of fish oil every day. This is an oil filled capsule that I just throw into the bowl with dinner and they eat it right up. My blacks had such a shiny coat that you could almost see your reflection. All my guys coats have been silky but some have been soft like bunny fur.
