Tonya,
I think some of the Charlotte people use Canadae and they order it in bulk to get a better price. I think Debbie Rader may have that information. ??? I wasn't sure if it could also be purchased at Petsmart and Petco. I haven't had any trouble with Nutro, but I'm almost afraid to continue to use it. I used to use Wellness when I first got Van Gogh...and he loved it....but to be truthful...he will eat anything. He always acts like he is starving. All Pets Considered is very close to me, so I will probably go there today and see what is available. Since it's not a "chain" store, their prices are a little higher...but like you said, it's worth it, if it is going to keep my dogs healthy.
See you Sunday

I work at the Petsmart in Wilm... I've had more then a dozen bags (1 today) come back in the past 2 months of the Nutro MAX. Never the reg. Nutro flavors but I'm sure to steer people clear of the MAX if they're thinking of changing.....We too had been out of some varieties of the reg. & were told it was due to some ingredients not coming into some factories & causing the back log....
Science Diet (I don't think) is all it's cracked up to be... People think because it's sold at the vets office it must be good, the ingredients aren't the best, niether is Iams.....
I actually feed the PS Authority brand & my guys do very well on that.
Good luck w/the sick pups!!!!!

I must confess to being surprised by the number of negative comments regarding Nutro. I have been feeding my greys now five in number, Nutro large dog senior in an Orange bag for more then 10 years with not a hint of problems. Have attributed in part, their overall good health and shiny coats to their diet. Even our new guy, Guy who is undergoing chemotherapy has been on it with no reactions. Despite the massive quantity of concerns about Nutro, am reluctant to take action as my experience is counter to what is being said here. Anyone have something to add on that particular Nutro product?

I do the Canidae orders for our group here in the Charlote area.
People from all over order with us. There are people in Greensboro, Concord, Harrisburg, Monroe, Rock Hill, Gastonia. So if anyone wants to feed their pets a very healthy additive free, chemical free food, let me know. We get a great discount since we order in bulk.

I order every month, the 3rd monday of each month.

Just send me an Email if you want to join in and I will give you all the details.

Sorry if I offend anyone who buys from a grocery store or chain store but you will not find Canidae in a place like that. Its an all natural pet food with no preservitives. A high end food. Human grade quality.
Here is the web site for Canidae

i totally agree with debbie that canidae is a great food but i also must add that i think nutro is great too in my opinion and personal experience. i feed stormy candiae and odie nutro (only because he hates canidae). i have had NO problems with the nutro since i have been feeding it to odie... i feed him the lamb and rice nutro in the dark green bag. i don't doubt that there has been some issues with some of the nutro products, like most other brands out there it seems. i am also afraid that odie may get sick from it by all the stories i have heard but i don't really know if there is a food out there that is totally safe. i can't help but stick with it when we are not having any problems ("don't fix something if it isn't broken"). i have found that nutro is more expensive than the canidae so if you ARE looking for an alternative to nutro, canidae is a great food and not as expensive in my opinion. i just hope that if you do switch, your dog doesn't dislike the canidae like my odie did. i was hoping to have both dogs on the same food but that didn't happen as expected.

around here, these are the prices of each that i buy (i live in between asheville and charlotte (rutherfordton):

canidae $33.99/40 lbs
nutro $23.99/20 lbs

Debbie Rater takes orders for the Canidae at a cheaper price. You do have to figure out how much you need for your dog for however often she orders it-she can tell you. You also have to pick it up.
