Hey everyone. I adopted my greyhound Harley about four years ago and I've enjoyed the company of my dorky dog since. However, I'm going to California from May to August to take some classes and I can't find anyone that I would trust with him(they keep on asking if they can keep him in the garage or backyard! what? no). There's also no way I'm going to board him at a kennel for four months. Do you guys know of anyone who would be able to dog sit for such an extended period of time? He's a big sweety and is good with small dogs. He used to have separation anxiety issues, but he's gotten much better. He does better uncrated, and as long as he gets sufficent exercise he's fairly lazy.

I live in Raleigh. I wouldn't mind transporting him though.

My husband and I live in Raleigh too! We're newly weds and have been researching greyhounds for months now. I am dying to adopt, but it wouldn't be feasible right now because we're moving into a new apartment at the end of July. Waiting is killing me, and I really just wish I could be around greyhounds and get some hands-on experience with the beautiful breed! I would love to take care of your dog while your away, but again, the apartment I'm in now isn't suitable. Have you considered getting someone to house-sit for you? (Keeping your dog at your place where he's comfortable and finding someone to stay at your place with him most of the time?) Then you have the added bonus of knowing your home will be okay too. I know I would love to, but I am a stranger to you right now, and that's no good! However, if you want to chat more, or if you feel like doing me a huge favor and letting me meet and talk and play with your greyhound sometime (I really am dying to spend time with greyhounds... being dog-less is agony!) that would be grand! Feel free to give me a call (919)749-0245 or e-mail me at
