Anyone have trouble with their hound "hoarding". I leave mine out of her crate because she was hurting herself, and then had very bad tummy issues when I used a baby gate. I give her free roam and she seems very happy...however, I think she gets bored when I'm gone. Whenever I come home, she has items stacked on her bed. I have to remember to put EVERYTHING away- I forgot to shut the bathroom cabinet and I came home to find my listerine, my contact solution, my Victoria's secret catalog, and all of the pillow from my bed (upstairs) stacked on her bed (downstairs). She doesn't usually eat these things, but sometimes will chew a little. My roomate had her door open and Laramie snuck in her room and at a very personal item out of her trashcan in a matter of minutes- luckily it came out today! It only seems to be when I am gone. When I am here, she pretty much just sleeps. Any thoughts as to why she does this? I have to say, it's hard not to smile, but makes me nervous she might choke! She snuck into my purse tonight which was hanging on a chair and put my wallet on her bed!

Sahara does pretty much the same thing. She will collect items of interest (to her) and bring them to her bed. She isn't destructive unless something is made of paper.

Laramie is probably doing this because she is bored and it's something to do. I would make sure and exercise a lot her before you leave in the morning. If she is worn out, she will be more likely to sleep while you're gone. Good luck!

We lovingly call this "shopping".
Carolina doesn't do it often, but it's odd what she shops for when she does. She likes yellow legal pads, oh and UPS packages.

Another interpretation:

These guys have never had anything of their own. Now, they have a home, bed(s), toys, clothing, and humans all of their own. What better way to feel cozy than to pull things that now belong to them and remind them of their missing humans than to pile them up on their soft bed? (Mine - heh heh; mine - all mine - hee hee)
