Oh no, poor Nubie!
I've seen a couple dogs with a straight toe, looks as if the tendons tore and can't hold the toe in an angle? _________________ Christina

Hey! Belle used to dislocate her toe often. At first we freaked and took her to the Emergency Vet for casts and prolonged treatment. Nothing worked. At one point the emergency vet talked about amputating her toe. My vet taught us to pop the joint back into place. It's easy once you learn how to do it. At first we had to pop the toe back into place once or twice a month. These days we haven't had to do it in a few years.
Good Luck!

Blue Moon got her toe broken when Pride landed on it leaping off of the back steps. The Vet put her on some pain meds as needed and told us to walk her on the leash for a few weeks instead of letting her run loose in the back yard. She was fine in about two weeks.

Oh Lord, I have had so many broken toes over the years. The vet always splinted and bandaged for 6 weeks. It took forever to figure out what was going on. Turns out one days i was out in the yard raking and my greys came out running towards me when I noticed that once they hit the acorns under the oka trees, it was like walking on marbles. Now I rake them up as best I can and havent had a broken toe since. knock on wood.
I would have it splinted and get some pain meds. Poor baby. Hope for a speedy recovery. |

Glad to hear all is well. The first time my Arlene broke her toe it actually bent all the way under and swelled so much it disappeared. I was looking all over the yard for a toe but there wasnt any blood. I was freeking out. When i got to the vet, he told me it was bent under. That had to of hurt. Their poor little toes are so sensitive. They need sneakers.
Take care,
Linda |
