I delivered dog food today to a wonderful new place in Ballintine .
The name is PAWTIQUE, a holistic pet shoppe.

She is having a guest come to her store soon who does non-antesthetic dental cleaning. Here is her web site if you want to check it out.

Let me know ASAP if you would like to schedule an appointment with her when she comes to Charlotte. OR, you can call Pawtiue at 704 544 7551 to talk to Diana.

She charges around 120 to 160 depending on the tarter.

Thanks for posting Debbie, this is very interesting. Jasmine needs a cleaning and I am curious on how they would keep her calm. I think I will give them a call and ask some questions. If I do this process I will post back on how it went. If anyone else does please post your experience.

Greyt news!! Very Happy

My vet of many years, Dr Joel Fisher in Raleigh who also does most of TGS fosters, does awake dentals.
I think he uses some type of sonic water pick?
He still has to put dogs that don't hold still or need teeth pulled under anesthesia, of course.
With the awake dental the teeth do not get as clean as they would be with a 'regular' dental, since they don't get polished as smoothly and dirt attaches to the rougher surface quicker. But I rather do them more often than taking the risk of losing my dog under anesthesia.

I had read about this on the internet and am glad to know there is a qualified person coming to the Charlotte-Metro area who offers an alternative to major anesthesia. Thanks for letting us all know.

Pawtique has a lot of people signing up for the dental cleaning.
What you need to do is send them an e mail with your name, how many dogs and your phone number. They will let you know when hounds2th will be here.

Thanks

OH: Pawtique is off Johnstone Road.

IF you know where the Red Robin is and a Fresh foods Grocery, its across Johnston road near the new PIKE outdoor center. She is in a new building on the left.

Hey! I emailed

last night and got a prompt response, as well as an offer to telephone to have my questions answered. I talked to Kathy today. She is the person who is coming to Pawtique to do the cleanings. I was very impressed.

Dolly has SEVERE gingivitis and gum recession. Her teeth are absolutely revolting. Her breath smells like something died in her mouth. I can tell her teeth hurt by the way she eats. Not being able to do anything about is has been torture. I was not sure Dolly would be a candidate for non-anesthetic dental cleaning. Turns out she is. YIPPEE! I booked Dolly and Sam for non-anesthetic cleanings. If the results are half as good as Kathy predicts I will be happy.

Cross your fingers for Dolly please. She deserves a healthy, pain-free mouth.

Note-Kathy will be doing the cleanings at Pawtique in Charlotte. She can also do offsite cleanings if several of you want her to come to your area.

Best Wishes!
Karen

Sounds GREYT !!!!
Is this lady coming on a regular basis to the Pawtique?
I am assuming she is local and is just going to be doing this there on an on-going basis ??
that would be super.

I believe she is out of Calafornia. She travels the country doing this so I have no idea when she will be back here. I think you have to have so many scheduled for one place before she will schedule an apparence.

If you want to do this I would make an appointment. Linda M. Said she has 22 for Pawtique already.

I have an appt for Jasmine. She has room for 40 appts and has 22 as of earlier this week. She has to have so many before she will come to town since there is out of pocket expense to travel and stay here. I did find out that the owner gets to be in the room during the cleaning.

I am still thinking about Miss Maggie Mae. Maggie is an anxious girl and I am not sure they would be able to calm her down, little on get her to lay on her side. I think Maggie needs heavy drugs for that trick. Maybe three, four or even five Oxyfresh Pet Relaxants. snooze Maybe if after I see her with Jasmine and if she has an appt I will get Maggie in.
